The drainage work we cover across Wiltshire
Wherever you are in the county, most calls start as a blocked drain that needs clearing fast. We cover the lot, from a single town blockage to a failed run that needs replacing.
Typical calls we get across the county:
- a toilet that backs up or empties slowly, often the first sign on the older terraces
- the same run blocking again every few weeks, where the chalk around Salisbury has shifted a clay joint
- yard gullies on the heavier clay ground near Trowbridge surcharging after heavy rain
- tree roots finding the open joints in the mature gardens round Devizes and Warminster
- blistered or collapsed pitch-fibre pipe on the post-war estates, where one failure usually means more
- a drain smell that keeps drifting back over one stretch of pipe
- cracked, leaking or sunken pipework under a drive or patio
- drainage on the county’s farms, lets, shops, pubs and managed commercial sites
If a drain keeps blocking or the trouble moves between outlets, the cause is usually further down the run, and one clear will not hold it. That is when we put a camera down before quoting.
Speak to a Drainage EngineerA recent Wiltshire job: roots in a Trowbridge drain that kept blocking
A homeowner off Hilperton Road in Trowbridge had a toilet and a kitchen gully backing up every few weeks. Earlier visits from another firm had cleared it each time, then it came straight back. We ran a camera down the BA14 run and found tree roots pushing in through two displaced clay joints near the boundary.
We cut the roots out, jetted the line clean, then lined the affected length with a no-dig resin sleeve so the joints could not let them back in. No digging up the garden, a one-day job, and it carries our 10-year guarantee on the lining. A clearance on a job like that runs from around £150, with the no-dig lining typically £2,000 to £5,000 depending on the length.

Drainage Services Across Wiltshire
Plenty of county call-outs end at a quick clear. Others open up into a camera survey, a pipe repair, no-dig lining, soakaway work or a maintenance plan once we have seen what the run is really doing.
Drain Clearing & Unblocking
Sinks, toilets, gullies and yard drains rodded and jetted clear, most in one visit. On the tight Victorian terraces in Trowbridge and central Salisbury we work off the rear chambers, then run the line back to check it holds.

CCTV Drain Surveys
Around Salisbury and Amesbury the chalk shifts and pulls clay joints apart, so a drain that keeps blocking is usually telling you the pipe has moved, not that you flushed the wrong thing. We send a camera down, find where it has dropped or cracked, and hand you the footage with each fault marked. Worth doing before you buy an older Wiltshire property too.

Drain Repairs
When the pipe is the fault, not the muck, we fix that length instead of clearing it every few months. We also tell you first whether the broken run is your private drain or sits with Wessex Water, so you are not paying to mend their sewer.

Drain Lining & Patching
Most of Wiltshire’s older runs are salt-glazed clay in the market-town terraces, with brittle pitch-fibre on the post-war estates round Trowbridge and Melksham. We cure a resin sleeve inside either one, sealing the cracks and split joints from the inside. No trench across the drive, and the lining carries our 10-year guarantee.

Root Removal
The mature trees in the older Devizes and Warminster gardens push roots straight into any clay joint that has opened up. We cut them back, flush the line, then camera the joint they got in through and tell you whether it needs lining to keep them out for good.

Drain Installation / Groundwork
New runs, fresh chambers and connections for an extension, a tired old system, or a run that has lost its fall on the flat low ground by the Avon at Chippenham. We lay it, tie it in and flow-test it before we backfill.

Soakaway installations
Free-draining chalk near Salisbury takes water fast, but the heavier clay around Trowbridge and Melksham holds it and floods the lawn. We dig a percolation test to read your actual ground, then size the soakaway to suit it rather than guessing.

Pre-Planned Drainage Maintenance
Planned jetting and camera checks for the farms, lets and market-town pubs across the county that cannot afford a drain backing up mid-service. Regular visits mean fewer emergency call-outs, and you catch a worn run before it floods.
Learn moreWhy Wiltshire Households and Sites Stay With Us
People across the county stick with one number because the same crew handles the clear and whatever it turns into. Find roots or a cracked length behind the blockage and we survey, quote and fix it ourselves, no second firm to brief. We would rather mend the pipe once than rod the same gully every few months.

How a Wiltshire Job Runs From Your Call
Four steps, whether you are in Salisbury or out past Chippenham. We look before we quote, and you sign off the price before we lift a cover.
Tell us
what’s wrong
Ring or message us with the symptom, your Wiltshire postcode, and whether it is flooding now or a slow repeat.
We find
the cause
On site we pick the right kit for the run, rods, the jet, or a CCTV survey when the cause is hiding underground.
We quote
the fix
With the cause confirmed, you get a written figure, clear, repair, lining or root work, before anything goes ahead.
We clear or
repair the drain
We carry out the agreed job and re-run the line, so that drain is not back on the phone next month.
What it costs, and how we price it
A rod on a slow gully and a relined run under a Chippenham drive are worlds apart, so there is no one phone-quote rate. We work out what the drain needs first, off your photos, the camera or a site visit, then price that and put it in writing.
You sign the figure off before any cover lifts, and that figure is what reaches the invoice. A simple clearance starts from around £150.
Quotes are free, with no obligation to book.
Guaranteed work
Our no-dig lining and repair work carries a 10-year guarantee. We are fully insured, and our engineers are City & Guilds qualified.
What you get when you call us
What causes most blocked drains in Wiltshire
Across Wiltshire the cause usually comes down to the age of the pipe, not the town. The Victorian terraces in places like Trowbridge, Chippenham and the older parts of Salisbury still run on the original salt-glazed clay. The ground shifts, the joints open, tree roots find the gap, and that is what keeps catching paper and waste.
The post-war estates that went up around the towns from the 1950s to the 1970s tend to have pitch-fibre pipe. It is past its life now and blisters or collapses, so once one length goes we usually find more nearby. On the chalk around Salisbury, Amesbury and Marlborough, ground movement and surface water add to it.

We survey before we dig, so we only replace pipe that actually needs it and line the rest with no-dig resin. Most of Wiltshire drains to Wessex Water, while the Swindon side in the north of the county sits with Thames Water. We tell you whether the fault is on your private drain or their sewer before we start. Ofwat sets out who is responsible for which pipes.
