The blocked drains we get called to around Waterlooville
Most calls are a toilet that will not clear, a kitchen gully overflowing onto the path, or a manhole brimming in the back garden. A fair few are the slow burn: a waste that drains away grudgingly, a drain that keeps going every couple of months, or a drain smell that will not shift.
How that shows up tends to track the house. On the estate streets it is the pitch-fibre going oval, so the bore narrows and waste catches a little more each month. On the older clay around London Road and Lovedean it is a joint that has dropped or roots feeling in through the chalk. And on the flatter estate plots it is rainwater the gully can no longer swallow, so it sheets across the path instead. Foul water backing up indoors and a run that has cracked or sunk and lost its fall sit on top of all of that.
The work spans the estates and the older end of Waterlooville: family homes, bungalows, rentals, the parades of shops, and managed commercial sites.
When the same drain keeps backing up after it has supposedly been cleared, the cause is usually further down the pipe, and rodding it again will not hold.
Speak to a Drainage EngineerWhen a Waterlooville blockage is really a tired pipe
A lot of Waterlooville housing went up fast in the 1960s and 70s, and a drain on one of those estates that blocks, clears, then blocks again within weeks is usually telling you the pipe itself is going, not that something just got stuck.
The pitch-fibre pipe laid on a lot of those estates is now well past its life. It softens, blisters inward and starts to flatten, so the bore narrows and waste snags on it. Once that begins, no amount of rodding fixes it, because the problem is the shape of the pipe.
On the older properties along London Road and out toward Lovedean it is more often the original clay: a joint that has dropped, or roots off a nearby tree that have prised their way in through the chalk ground.
So we look before we quote. Depending on what the run shows, that means a CCTV survey to see the defect, a pipe repair where a section has failed, or no-dig lining and root removal where the pipe needs a lasting fix.
The aim is to sort the real fault in one go, so the same drain is not back on the phone to us next month.

Drainage Services in Waterlooville
Some Waterlooville drains want nothing more than a rod and a jet on the day. Others, usually the worn estate runs, want a camera and then lining, a repair, root work or a rebuild. One crew handles whichever it turns out to be.
Drain Clearing & Unblocking
A toilet that will not flush away, a sink draining slow, or a gully spilling onto the path? Rods first, then the jet if it needs it, and we watch the flow settle before packing up. Where one run serves a row of estate homes, we get every door on it flowing, not just the one that phoned.

CCTV Drain Surveys
A drain that has gone two or three times, or an older home you are about to buy, earns a camera run. The footage shows the blistered pitch-fibre, the open joint or the root mass plainly, and how many metres down the run it is sitting.

Drain Repairs
A dropped clay joint on the older London Road end, or a length of pitch-fibre that has gone oval out on the estates, gets replaced with new pipe rather than rodded round forever. We open up only where the run gives us no other way in, and the new section carries the 10-year guarantee.

Drain Lining & Patching
A resin liner sets inside the existing pipe, whether that is original clay or the failing estate pitch-fibre, with no trench across the lawn or block paving. One blistered metre takes a patch; a whole tired length takes the full sleeve.

Root Removal
On the free-draining chalk, roots feel their way into any open joint in the older Lovedean and London Road clay. We cut the mass back, trace the entry point on camera, then seal that joint so there is nothing left for them to grow into.

Drain Installation / Groundwork
Building out over the back garden of a 1960s estate house, or replacing a drain layout that was only ever meant for the original footprint? We put in new runs and chambers, set the falls so a flat estate plot still clears, and connect into the existing system without leaving the rest of it limping.

Soakaway installations
The chalkier ground up toward Horndean tends to soak away well. We still dig a test pit, check how fast it drains, and size the pit for the roof and yard feeding it. If the ground will not take it, we route to a proper outfall instead.

Pre-Planned Drainage Maintenance
Scheduled jetting and camera checks for landlords, managing agents and the parade shops. A run that serves several units gets seen to on a set visit, well before it gives out on a Friday night.

Rod a Waterlooville estate drain clear and walk away, and on a worn pitch-fibre run you will be back within weeks paying for the same call twice. We would rather find why it went the first time and deal with that.
Urgent blockages, drains that will not stay clear, CCTV surveys, lining and repairs are our day-to-day here. Much of it sits on the 60s and 70s estates at Cowplain, Crookhorn and Wecock Farm, where one shared run can surcharge into several gardens at once.
The camera goes down before the quote does, and the price follows what the pipe needs. You are paying to end the problem, not to shunt it a few metres along the line.

How Our Waterlooville Drainage Service Works
We start from what is showing at the property, then take one of two routes: a straightforward clear, or a camera and a proper repair where the pipe itself has gone.
Explain what
is going wrong
Let us know what is affected, the toilet, a gully, a manhole in the garden, what you are seeing back up or overflow, and whether it has just started or keeps returning.
Assess the
run properly
We follow the run to the point it is really failing, working from the chamber by rod and by hand, and dropping a CCTV survey in where the fault is out of sight underground.
Recommend
the right fix
With the cause in front of us, we tell you plainly what it needs, a clear, a liner, a patch or root work, and whether the fault is on your drain or on Southern Water’s sewer.
Complete
the agreed work
We carry out what was agreed, get the run flowing, and pass the camera back through so you can watch that same stretch run clear before we leave.
What a Waterlooville job costs, and how we price it
A two-minute rod and a fully relined estate run land miles apart on price, so a single set rate would not be honest. We work out what is wrong first, off your description, the camera footage or a visit, and the quote covers that and only that.
The figure is agreed up front, while the cover is still down, and the invoice never carries a line you have not already signed off.
Quotes are free, and booking is entirely up to you.
Work that is guaranteed
There is a 10-year guarantee behind our no-dig lining and repairs. We hold full public liability insurance, and the engineers on the van carry City & Guilds water-jetting tickets.
What you get when you call us out
A recent Waterlooville job
A 1970s semi on Padnell Road in Cowplain called us in after the downstairs toilet and the kitchen sink started backing up together, the sign that the trouble is out in the main run, not under one fitting. It had been rodded twice over the winter and gone again each time. Instead of a third rod, we put the camera down first.
The survey showed exactly what we expected on an estate of that age: a stretch of pitch-fibre that had blistered and gone oval, narrowing the bore so waste built up behind it after every clear. The rest of the run was sound, so we lined that section from the inside rather than dig up the garden, and ran the camera back through to confirm a clean, round bore. We had quoted the lining in writing before we lifted a cover, and confirmed the fault sat on the private drain, not Southern Water’s sewer. It has run clear since.
What causes most blocked drains in Waterlooville
Most of the blockages we deal with in Waterlooville come down to when the house was built. The town grew very fast from the late 1950s into the 1970s, when thousands of homes went up across Cowplain, Purbrook, the council estates at Wecock Farm and Crookhorn, and the streets around the London Road precinct. A lot of those estates were laid with pitch-fibre pipe, the cheap wood-pulp-and-tar pipe of that era, and it is now failing: it blisters, softens and goes oval, so the bore closes up and the drain keeps catching.
The older properties along London Road and out toward Lovedean and Horndean tend to run on the original clay instead. There the usual culprits are joints that have dropped over time and tree roots feeling their way in, helped along by the free-draining chalk this side of the Downs. Either way, once the pipe is the problem, clearing the blockage is only a reprieve.
We cover the PO7 and PO8 postcodes, survey before we commit to anything, and line from the inside rather than dig where the pipe will take it. The public sewers here belong to Southern Water, and we will tell you whether the fault sits on your private drain or their main before any work starts (Ofwat sets out who owns which pipes).
